Hi, I’m Charlene Pacatang, and I’m on a mission to help thousands of Filipinos kick start their online businesses, even if they’re not tech-savvy or have zero business experience. But first, let me share my story of how I became an entrepreneur at 16. My journey began in college. Simpleng tao lang ako na may pangarap para sa sarili at family ko… just like you.

Back then, all I wanted was to graduate, find a job, and earn enough to cover my needs and wants. I thought it would be that simple… pero hindi pala!

When I was in my second year college, my mom left home. Wala kaming idea ng mga kapatid ko kung saan siya pumunta. Sinabi ko kay papa, pero sabi niya hayaan muna, baka nagkatampuhan lang sila ni mama, as usual.

Pero tatlong araw na ang lumipas, and she still hadn’t come back. Kaya nagdesisyon si papa na hanapin siya. But he didn’t return either… Days turned into weeks, weeks into months, and before we knew it, years had passed.

In just a snap, nawalan kami ng parents.

It felt like a nightmare. Though we knew they were alive somewhere, their presence was gone.

Thanks to my lola and tita, we got by financially, but I hated the feeling of having utang na loob. I wanted to stand on my own, so I started looking for ways to earn extra.

I tried everything—tutoring, doing research for others, guitar lessons. I earned a bit, but it was never enough. Money was tight; pambayad sa kuryente, tubig, and pagkain were constant concerns.

Then one day, I stumbled across a Facebook post that say, “Sell anything on Lazada.” I thought it was impossible! But as a business student, I couldn’t resist researching “how to earn money online.”

That’s when I learned more about Lazada. It offered a chance to sell without needing a website, a store, or huge capital. Despite my doubts, I gave it a try. But my first attempt didn’t work out. Wala akong kinita.

Then I found out that Facebook could also be a platform for selling. Through Marketplace and Messenger, I started making small sales—P1,000, then P10,000.

But I eventually ran out of prospects and faced rejection from friends who even blocked me!

After graduating, I found a job but was still financially stretched...

I invested my small savings from side hustles and started a loading station, computer shop, and online travel agency. I was making P20,000 to P50,000 per month until competitors emerged, and I eventually had to close some businesses.

Only my travel agency remained, but when the pandemic hit, everything came to a halt.

Lockdowns… no tourists… It felt like rock bottom again.

I kept asking myself...

Should I give up?

Despite feeling lost, I prayed, even if I wasn’t a regular church-goer. Slowly, things started to clear up.

I watched YouTube tutorials, read books, researched profitable businesses, and enrolled in online courses.

Through every struggle and failure, I realized that these moments were part of my journey, preparing me for the success I dreamed of.

After years of persistence, I earned my first six figure of sales online...

Today, I am blessed to know people who share my mindset and goals, and that’s why I’m passionate about helping ordinary Filipinos start their own online businesses.
